What we believe
Shoreline of Riverside Park
This is a basic outline of our beliefs. There are many other subjects that are presented in the Word of God which are not covered here. We welcome inquiries if there is any question regarding the beliefs we hold. Please contact us through the "Contact us" page.
The Word of God:
- We believe in the verbal (word for word), plenary (complete), Divine inspiration of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21. See 2nd Timothy 3:1.
- We believe in the Divine preservation of the scriptures in their inerrancy and accuracy. See Psalm 12:6, 7; Matthew 24:35.
God:
- We believe there is one, all powerful, all knowing, omnipresent God who is gracious, merciful, good, loving, holy and is manifest in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- God is one: See 1st Timothy 2:5.
- The Father is God: See Colossians 1:2.
- The Son is God: See 1st Timothy 3:16.
- The Holy Spirit is God: See Acts 5:3, 4.
- Gracious: See Psalm 86:15.
- Merciful: See Psalm 116:5.
- Good: See Matthew 19:17.
- Loving: See 1st John 4:8.
- Holy: See Psalm 99:9.
Man:
- Mankind is created by God in God's image but mankind has sinned and is therefore separated from God.
- Created by God in God's image: See Genesis 1:27.
- Man is sinful by nature and practise: See Psalm 58:3.
- Man is separated from God because of sin: See Isaiah 59:2.
Salvation:
- God offers eternal salvation as a free gift to all of mankind through personal faith in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. See John 3:16.
- Salvation depends solely on the death of the Lord Jesus Christ who shed His precious blood as the means of
redemption for man apart from any work or doing of man. See Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8, 9, 1st Peter 1:18, 19.
- The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is testimony to the satisfaction of God regarding the death of
Christ for sinners. See Luke 24:39, Romans 4:25.
The Second Coming of Christ (first phase):
- We believe in and wait for the imminent (any time) return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the air, for His own, before the
seven years Great Tribulation Period. He promised to raise those who have died during this Church Age and to catch away those who are His own and who are alive at the Rapture. See John 14:3, 1st Thessalonians 4:14 - 18.
The Second Coming of Christ (second phase):
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return to the earth after the seven years Great Tribulation Period to reign on the earth for one thousand years. See Revelation 20:6.
Eternity:
- We believe in the eternal existence of the human soul and that there is a literal Heaven to gain and an eternal Hell to
shun.
- Eternal existence of the human soul: See Genesis 2:7, Job 14:10, Ecclesiastes 12:5.
- Literal Heaven and literal Hell: See Luke 16:19 - 31.
Baptism:
- We believe that baptism is for believers only and is by total immersion. See Acts 2:41; 8:35 - 39.
Gathering to His Name:
- We believe that the New Testament gives Christians in this Church Age a pattern for how they are to gather and
conduct their gatherings. We seek to follow that pattern as it is revealed in the Word of God. See Acts 2:41, 42.
